Tune in to CKUT 90.3PM between 3pm and 5pm on Tuesday Nov 17th to hear me guest-host the Montréal Sessions. This show will feature live music, interviews with guitarists Vicky Mettler and Alex Pelchat.
The first hour of this weeks’ show, on Tuesday November 17th, will feature recordings that have inspired my work the most in the last few months – Bill Dixon, Dolly Parton, Tatsuya Nakatani, Cecil Taylor, Heather Roche and more…
The second hour will feature Alex Pelchat and Vicky Mettler and I playing music and talking together.
Alex Pelchat is a guitar player interested in experimental and improvised music who has been active since 2011 on the local scene both locally and in the US, playing anarchist churches, libraries and dirty concrete basements. He’s trying to channel both the heaviness of Dylan Carlson and the overwhelming energy of Anthony Braxton. Bands of his include *Shining Wizard*, Drøm Før Du Dør and Gens Chrétiens.
Vicky Mettler is a guitar player from Montreal. Active on the local scene since 2013, she has performed in many improvised settings and has recently completed a cross-Canadian tour with her current band, the Brick 4tet. With a slim background in jazz, she now mostly plays open strings. If you have any thoughts about the show, or any concerts coming up, please let me know at firstname.lastname@example.org
